TRAINING LIKE YOU WANT IT!

People are always complaining about not getting results but the same people tend to be in the gym going through the motions or more often then not their phones seeing if they have a text from omeone. The gym is for training and achieving your goals and just quitely training goals don’t happen over the phone.

When you’re going to the gym you should already have a plan from the night before atleast to have some structure as to what you’re about to do whether that be run 5km, do a particular body part or even go their for a class. Whatever it is you have set yourself up for you should go there with intent. The intent to give 100% at the session to achieve maximum results. Go to the gym with the mindset that you’re going to give it everything you have for the time you’re there. I mean seriously a hour maximum workout at full intensity is all that is need, surely that’s not too much to ask?

If you go with a friend then make sure that you make it clear from the start that this is your intention so that you’re not stalling between sets and wasting time. I mean there are 24 hours in a day and I’m sure if you want to discuss something then there is always after your workout? I see it over and over and I’m talking years of workouts not hitting their potential because they come in doing the same thing that has gotten them no results for the last 2 years but they’ll continue to do the same for the next 2 years. I ask you this, are you wasting your time?

I go to bed knowing that tomorrow I have let’s say “CHEST” so that I already know what I’m going to do flat DB bench, Dips supersetted with Push ups, Incline bench, Flyes and finished with Decline DB bench becuase I have a plan or structure to get the most of my training. The once I’m there I prefer to put the earphones on and go for gold sometimes not talking to my partner throughout the whole workout unless it comes to discussing how many reps, how we’ll spot one another or compliments about how good they just smashed out a set.

People may say that this is only for a¬†athlete’s mindset but I can guarantee you I have had this mindset since I was a kid which means you can adopt this at any stage in your life. Now if you’re not too fussed about getting results and just doing the gym as a social thing then don’t be fussed by what I have written but if you have been trying to get results and cannot find the way or push past this plateau then it’s time to make a change. If you have always done waht you have alwys done then nothing will change. Make a change and don’t let anyone’s thoughts on your mindset at they gym come into play and you watch the results!

That also means at every rep you make it count but going through the full range at a controlled fashion to have that working muscle under constant tension without bouncing and finishing every rep. I’m talking about every rep from 1 through to whatever rep range you finish at, full intensity and full control!

It’s like the guys that always say to me that they want to bulk up but hit the gym and lift light weights with no effort or intent. I mean seriously you ain’t going to progress or grow without some grunt behind your set or the girls that tell me they want to tone up but only do cardio and even then do it in their comfort zone. News flash you will tone nor will you get anywhere everyone when you stay in your comfort zone.

What’s that I hear you don’t want to sweat or look like you’re training too hard, hahahahaha then why go? Who cares who is watching?, who cares if you sweat? who cares if it takes you out of your comfort zone?

Let me tell you this until you get out the comfort zone you will never achieve greatness! You will just cruise along wondering why you’re not getting the results you want.

Have a go and through your comfort zone on it’s head and smash not only your next workout but everyone after. I promise you that you won’t regret it!
